Shifo Temple

Shifo Temple, located in the Macun district of Jiaozuo city, was founded in the year of the Tianfu period in the Later Han Dynasty (948 AD) with a history of more than one thousand years. Its buildings were built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, with yellow walls and green tiles, solemn and magnificent. The complex includes the temple gate, the Hall of the Heavenly King, the bell tower and drum tower, the Mahaviro Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Dizang Hall, the Jieyin Hall, the Buddha Recitation Hall, the Wuguan Hall, the library, Mituo courtyard, the apartment for monks and so on. It is a known way place of Pure Land in the northern region of Henan province. Shifo Temple became an affiliated temple of Shaolin Temple in 2004 and also an only Pure Land monastery in Jiaozuo city. Former president of the Buddhist Association of China Mr. Zhao Puchu inscribed a board of “Shi Fo Si”(石佛寺)hanging over the Heavenly King Hall.


In recent years, the temple is growing rapidly and has won medals issued by the province, city and district departments under the care and support of abbot Shi Yongxin and the guidance of governments at all levels.
