The Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day-- Shaolin Monks Offering Sacrifice to Bless and the Bodhisattva Repentance Dharma Assembly Completed Successfully

On August 8, 2020, or the 19th day of the sixth lunar month, welcome the Bodhisattva Enlightenment Day. Shaolin Temple hosted the sacrifice-offering assembly for Bodhisattva to bless prosperity for our country and peace for our people and COVID-19 patients recovering from the epidemic soon. On the same day, the Bodhisattva Enlightenment Day was completed successfully.

Shaolin monks gathered in the Sutra-Keeping Pavilion under the guidance of abbot Yongxin at 9:30am. Master Yongxin offered incense and presided over the dharma assembly, worshiped Bodhisattva and remembered Bodhisattva with gratitude, praying for sentient beings released from all suffering and attaining happiness.

In the morning master Yankang, manager of Shaolin Temple, guided believers to pray to Buddha and transfer virtues and merits at the Baiyi Hall and return virtues and merits to the deceased at the Dizang Hall. The Bodhisattva Enlightenment Day was completed successfully through chanting scriputres for three days.

The Shaolin Temple vowed to redeem sentient beings through freeing captive lives in front of the Sutra-Keeping Pavilion. According to ritual procedure, masters of Shaolin Temple guided lay Buddhists to preach dharma, chant the Great Compassion Mantra and the Mantra of Rebirth in Pureland, and conferred the Threefold Refuge, praying the free sentient beings could escape from the three hells forever. Then all masters, lay Buddhists and visitors joyfully freed captive lives. (Edited by Yue Long)
