Maitreya Buddha at the Mountain Gate
There is a wooden niche with a built-in sitting statue of Maitreya inside it whose statue is mellow and full with one bag in his hand, bare-chested. The statue of Maitreya Buddha is usually placed at the Mahaviro Hall by Chan and Pure Land schools, which has gradually become a fixed mode. The former statue had been destroyed during the Cultural Revolution period and the present statue was remade in 1980, designed by Song Shufan.
